Video: ‘Sparks of Quantum Physics: Perspectives Shaping the Future‘ by Miriam Joanna
The quantum innovation lab is a programme designed for scientists who want to investigate the commercial potential of their research. Participants will learn from industry leaders, identify their technology’s potential, and explore funding opportunities to turn ideas into viable projects.
Who should join? If you’re a student or a quantum researcher with bold ideas and a passion for innovation, the quantum ilab is the place for you. Further details about the programme can be found on this page. Please, register using the button below.
The quantum ilab consists of a boot camp on 25 – 28 September 2025 (at Jugendgästehaus Bad Ischl) where participants will learn about the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and work together on the innovative ideas. The boot camp will be followed by six weekly online sessions to help them develop the main aspects of a business idea; in this phase, participants will get the support of their institutions to make progress. On 14 November 2025, the programme will culminate with the demo day where selected teams will pitch their ideas.
Registration is open now! Please find more information about the application process below.
Deadline for applications: 29 June 2025.
The boot camp will take place from the 25th to the 28th of September 2025 in the Jugendgästehaus Bad Ischl and will cover key aspects of turning quantum research into market-ready technologies including technology identification, market analysis, exploring funding opportunities and pitch training.
Get ready for a mix of hands-on workshops, group activities, focus sessions and hiking.
Every Wednesday afternoon from the 1st of October to the 5th of November, you will attend weekly webinars about quantum innovation that will help you develop your business idea further. After each webinar, you will be tasked with working on some aspects of your idea. Experts from your institution will support you in this endeavour.
If selected among the finalists, you will showcase your business idea and get feedback from industry experts.
The pitch session will be followed by a networking session where all participants will have the opportunity to talk to different stakeholders of the quantum industry.
The demo day will take place in Vienna at the Sky Lounge of the University of Vienna on 14 November 2025.
We invite motivated researchers involved in quantum science at all stages of their careers, including Master and PhD students, postdocs, and PIs, to apply. This includes researchers from related fields such as engineering or computer science who have a connection to quantum technologies.
The programme is free for researchers from participating institutions (see below). If you are affiliated with another institution, participation may still be possible if your organization agrees to cover the programme fee of 1000 EUR.
